Capability matrix

Every tick is one capability.

The matrix lays out every capability of a role side by side — those from WordPress and those that plugins and themes bring along. Setting them goes through WP_Role::add_cap() and remove_cap(), so straight into wp_user_roles. What stands here applies at once and everywhere, including to code that knows nothing about this plugin.

All seven plugins included in the lifetime deal — every future one too.

FAQ about the capability matrix

What does “sensitive” mean?
Some capabilities open more than their name suggests. edit_plugins, for instance, is access to the server, not to the editorial desk — whoever holds it can write code into the site.
Does this work outside Kakapo too?
Yes. The writing goes into WordPress’s own capability store. Every other plugin that asks current_user_can() gets the same answer.
Why don’t I see the deprecated capabilities?
Because they are hidden by default. Capabilities such as “level_10” date back to WordPress 2.0 and cause more confusion than use today — you can still show them.
