Fifteen fields

What you can set.

For the common case one field is enough: enter the brand name, and the menu, sidebar, plugins list and author follow from it. The rest is fine-tuning.

Brand name

Replaces “Kakapo” everywhere — in the menu, in the sidebar, in the header. The one field most people need.

Logo

The address of an image file; replaces the product icon at the top of the sidebar. A square image looks best.

Accent colour

Overrides the product colour. Colour picker and hex field, linked — if you have your house colour as a string, you don’t have to hunt for it in the wheel.

Footer text

Replaces the line at the foot of the sidebar. Without your own text, your brand name appears there — or nothing at all.

Support address

Your e-mail address below the sidebar. The client writes to you, not to us.

Menu name and icon

What the entry in the WordPress menu is called and which Dashicon sits in front of it.

Plugin-Name

The name in the WordPress plugins list. Left empty, it follows from the brand name.

Description

The text beneath the name in the plugins list — where it otherwise says what the plugin does.

Vendor and address

“By …” in the plugins list, with its link. Without an address of your own the link is dropped entirely instead of pointing at us.

Hide the KakapoWP note

Removes the note at the foot of the sidebar. If a brand name is set, yours appears there; otherwise the line stays empty.

Hide the Kakapo-specific areas

Removes “Licence”, “Guide” and “Help & Support” from the menu — along with the button in the header. The areas are never output at all.

Hide the white-label area itself

So your client cannot change the branding. It is then no longer in the page source either; you reach it through an address the plugin tells you beforehand.

Central management

Set once, applies everywhere.

If you look after twenty client sites, you don’t want to type the brand twenty times. Your account on kakapowp.com holds the same fifteen fields — the plugins fetch the current state during their daily licence check.

Enter it in your account

Brand, logo, colour, support address — once, in the “White label” tab of your account.

Choose websites

Under “My websites” you switch white label on or off per site. The normal case is “follows the account” — then your settings apply everywhere.

Done

Each plugin picks the settings up at its next licence check, at the latest the following day. Straight away if you re-check the licence inside the plugin.

+Bulk actions. Select several sites and switch white label on or off for all of them at once — or set them back to “follows the account”.
+Distribute settings. A set of settings from one plugin can be stored in the account and rolled out to every site on the same licence — no passwords, no licence keys, only known switches.
+Local wins, if you want it to. Each plugin can decide on its own whether to follow the account or keep its own values.
Roles

What the client may manage.

Some clients want to touch the settings themselves, others only to look. With Kakapo Roles you decide that per role — not per site.
→The whole lower block in one click. “Network” and “System” disappear along with their headings; for that role the sidebar ends at the last feature area.
→Individual areas. Licence, white label, Your data, Appearance, Take settings with you, Guide, Help & Support and Remote sites can each be locked per role.
→A real lock, not a view setting. A locked system area is never output at all, and a hand-made request is refused.

Where white label stops.

So expectations are right before you buy — not afterwards.
·The version number stays. It is the first thing needed in a support case. Hiding it would only hurt you.
·The plugin folder names stay. Anyone looking via FTP or the file manager sees kakapowp-security. Renaming them would break every update.
·If a plugin is locked, “Licence” stays visible. Even with the Kakapo areas hidden — otherwise the site would sit there with a lock message and no way to the field that lifts it.
·White label is an add-on. A one-time €50 on top of the lifetime bundle, unlimited across all your sites.
