Generate legal texts and cookie policy

The “Legal texts” panel holds two separate tools: a cookie policy that is created from the scanned services, and a generator that builds six documents in German and English from your entries. Both create WordPress pages as a draft, which you check and publish yourself.

Cookie policy from the recorded services

1. Open “Kakapo Consent” and select the “Legal & tools” group, then the “Legal texts” item.
2. On the “Cookie policy” card, click on “Create page” — the page “Cookie policy” is created with the status draft.
3. Open the page via “Edit”, check its content, complete it and publish it.
4. After a new scan, press the same button again; it is then called “Update page”.

The generated content consists of an introductory paragraph, the statement of how many days a consent is valid, and after that, for each category, a heading with a table of service and host. Categories without recorded services are explicitly named as empty; “Necessary” gets an explanatory paragraph instead. At the end there is a note with the creation date. Generating again overwrites the page content, and with it your own additions.

The legal text generator

The generator produces a legal notice, a Privacy Policy, a cancellation policy, data protection information for job applicants, a record of processing activities and a DPA template, each in German and English. The last two are marked as internal in the selection.

1. On the “Your details” card, expand the sections: Company/provider, Regulated professions & supervisory authority, Data protection with hosting and data processing, Third-party services used, Job applications, Record of processing activities & DPA template, and Online shop & right of withdrawal.
2. Fill in at least “Company/owner name” and the mandatory email and click on “Save entries”.
3. Use “Add from scan data” to take the services detected in the scan into the selection.
4. Click on “Generate preview” — the documents appear below it, switchable per document and between DE and EN.
5. Use “Save as WordPress page” to create a document as a new draft or to overwrite an existing page.

• “Comparison with the scan” shows which services found in the scan are not yet named in the Privacy Policy
• “Copy HTML” puts the text of the current view into the clipboard, handy for the internal documents
• The “Version history” keeps the last 15 generated versions with date and score; each one can be restored
• Passages marked in yellow in the generated text are open details that are still missing

Cookie declaration as a shortcode

The declarations maintained under “Cookies”, “Domains” and “Resources” (in German: „Ressourcen“) can be output as a table on any page — with description, provider, purpose and duration. Using the type attribute you restrict this to cookies, services, domains, resources or all.
