FAQ about folders

Are my files moved in the process?
No. A folder is an assignment in the database, not a directory on the disk. Every file stays where it was, and every image address stays the same. No reference in a post can break because of it.
What happens if I deactivate the plugin?
The media library then looks as it did before, just without the sorting. The assignments stay stored. Switch the plugin back on and every folder is there again.
Can a file sit in several folders?
No, a file sits in exactly one folder. Otherwise the number next to “Not filed” could no longer be explained. WordPress does not come with tags for media out of the box — anyone who wants to assign a file more than once needs a custom taxonomy for it.
